Tahlequah councilor to speak at CCRP meeting

Ward 4 Tahlequah City Councilor Josh Allen will be speaking with the Cherokee County Republican Party on Monday, March 10.

Allen, a life-long resident of Tahlequah, has over 25 years of serving as public school educator. He is the music teacher at Greenwood Elementary School and also served in the capacity of youth minister and associate pastor in his local church for over 20 years.

Allen and his wife, Ginger, opened a faith-based sober living program that focuses on helping the at-risk in the community in 2022. The program offers physical, emotional, and spiritual help to those who are seeking to rehabilitate their lives, Allen said.

"I am a Christian conservative with a heart for bringing people together instead of using differences in opinions as a method to further divide our generation," Allen said. "I have a history of getting along with others who have completely different opinions on a plethora of topics. I have effectively served in many leadership capacities over my professional tenure."

Allen also served as president of the Oklahoma Bandmasters Association and oversaw the entire states organization in 2019 and in 2020.

"Our system of government was designed so that the diversity that we cherish so much can have equal representation. So many times, the only voices that you hear are the people on either side screaming at each other, refusing to budge an inch. We were meant to come together in love and find common ground to continue moving forward," he said.

Allen was elected to the city council in 2023 and said he brings a strong, loving, and conservative voice to the council. He also the city representative and head of the Tahlequah Resource Outreach Team (TROT).

"This group is tasked with discussing and implementing strategies that will help the at-risk and homeless populations in our community. I continue to focus on making Tahlequah the best pro-business small town in Oklahoma," Allen said.

Another Republican opportunity is to attend the Cherokee County Republican Women meeting on the third Tuesday of every month at the Armory. The next CCRW meeting is Tuesday, March 18, 2025. The club meeting starts at 10 a.m. and the program starts at 11 a.m.
