Sheriff's Reports 3-11-25: Man arrested after allegedly swinging pellet gun at woman

An altercation between family members lands one man in jail after he was accused of making threats and committing assault with a dangerous weapon.

On March 9, Cherokee County Sheriff's Deputy Jimmie Robertson was dispatched to South Lamons Road due to reports of a fight in progress. A man, who had blood running down his face, said Michael Joe Lamons left on a 4-wheeler to a family member's house. Robertson met with Lamons, who had blood on his nose, ear, and hand. Lamons claimed dogs were barking at a family member and he fired a pellet gun at a tree stump to scare them. He said a woman and her husband, the victim, came outside and the man ran at him. Lamons said he put his hand up to stop the man but he ran into his hand with his face. Robertson spoke with the man and he said his wife yelled at Lamons to stop shooting at her dog in front of her daughter. He accused Lamons of calling the woman a derogatory name and swinging the pellet gun at her. He said Lamons struck him in the face and the two fought on the ground. The man called 911 and dispatchers could hear Lamons yelling that he would burn the couple's house down. The couple said they wanted to press charges and Lamons was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery.

Deputy Seth Morgan was called to Combs Bridge March 2 due to a vehicle crash. The deputy arrived to find a damaged Sedan and a truck. Two men were standing near the truck and Morgan could smell the odor of alcohol coming from them. The passenger, Kane Kindle, was complaining of knee pain and EMS was requested to check him out. Morgan said Kindle refused medical treatment. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol arrived and the driver, who was not identified, was arrested for driving under the influence. Kindle was arrested and booked for public intoxication.

On March 1, Deputy Jaxon Thomlinson was dispatched to West 886 Road in regard to someone who was reportedly trespassing. Dispatch advised that a man dressed in black was on a porch and asking for help. Thomlinson said he and other deputies responded to reports of a burglary in progress call after a man was accused of banging on doors and appeared to try to get into a residence. Thomlinson arrived and made contact with Russell Barnes, who said his friend dropped him off in the area after the two got into an argument. Barnes said his friend assaulted him during the argument. Barnes was arrested for public intoxication and said he wanted to press charges on the man who struck him in his face.

Deputy Thomlinson responded to 700 Road and Killabrew Road March 7 for a suspicious person who may have stolen a vehicle the previous night in Mayes County. The deputy observed Anthony Todd Martin walking and approached him. Martin denied stealing the vehicle; however, he identified himself in a photo that deputies showed him of the suspect. Martin advised he wanted an attorney and he was booked.

On March 7, Deputy Kevin Cohen was dispatched to reports of a domestic assault on West Jones Road. A man accused Jacquelyn McCollum of striking him in the head with the heel of a boot, pointing a gun at him, and threatening him with a knife. The victim also had a cut on his arm. The man said he tried calling for help and McCollum allegedly took his phone and smashed it. He said he went outside and fired three shots into the air from his firearm. McCollum was arrested and booked for felony pointing a firearm, domestic assault and battery, and interfering with a 911 call.

These are arrests, not convictions.
