Roland man sentenced for sexual acts to child

A Roland man was sentenced to 55 years for sexual abuse of a 9-year-old child.

According to a press release from District 27 District Attorney Jack Thorp, 30-year-old Stephen Oxford pleaded guilty to four counts of lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16 and one count of child neglect.

Oxford was arrested March 2023, and a report was made to the Roland Police Department. According to the report, videos showed that Oxford was engaging in inappropriate behavior with the child.

Oxford was sentenced to 25 years to the Department of Corrections plus an additional 30 years of supervised probation.

“It is heartbreaking when children are victimized, especially by people they should be able to trust,” Thorp said. “I am thankful that these criminal acts were brought to light before further abuse could happen.”
