Registered sex offender arrested after allegedly uploading child pornography online

A registered sex offender was arrested after authorities were notified that child pornography was uploaded to a social media site.

On Sept. 18, Cherokee County Sheriff's Sgt. Ryan Robison was assigned a case from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force regarding a cyber tip.

Pinterest reported that an account uploaded what appeared to be child sexual abuse material to its platform. According to the report, an image appeared to be a screenshot of several videos of juvenile girls in sexual situations with adult men.

Robison was able to obtain a physical address that was associated with the account and one of the names to that account was Brandon Dycus, a registered sex offender.

"He was convicted of two counts of procuring, producing, distributing, or possessing child pornography. He was sentenced to eight years in [the Department of Corrections] and three years of supervision," Robison wrote in his report.

Robison obtained search warrants for the email account tied to the Pinterest account, the Pinterest account itself, and for Dycus' residence, in Tahlequah.

On Dec. 16, entry was made into the residence and Dycus and a woman were detained. Dycus didn't wish to speak with investigators and asked for an attorney. Robison said several electronic devices were seized as evidence.

Dycus was arrested and booked for possession, distribution, or participation in the preparation of obscene material or child pornography and Oklahoma State Statute 21-1958 Violation of Computer Crimes Act.

This is an arrest, not a conviction.
