Police Reports 1-8-25: Adult Protective Services contacted after residents found wandering from care facilities

Adult Protective Services was contacted after two separate incidents in which residents were found wandering outside.


On Dec. 21, Tahlequah Police Lt. Matt Frits was called to Cherokee County Nursing Center in regard to an elderly woman who was found wandering near the road on North Cedar Avenue. A family member of the woman arrived and transported her back to her facility, which was not the Cherokee County Nursing Center. Staff of the woman's facility was unaware she left and Adult Protective Services were made aware of the matter due to other incidents of residents who have exited the facility without staffing knowing, according to Frits' report.


Officers were dispatched to North Vinita Avenue Jan. 1 for a missing Alzheimer's patient, who had not been seen for at least an hour. A search team that consisted of multiple agencies seached the area. The man was located near South Muskogee Avenue and West Willis Road and returned to the facility. According to the police report, a staff member then took the man to a motel. He was located by officers near Downing Street and East Avenue. The report was filed with the Oklahoma Adult Protective Services and the man was returned to the facility.


Officer Zach Adams was dispatched to Clayton Drive Dec. 23 due to reports of indencent exposure. The victim said their granddaughter was present during the incident.


On Dec. 20, Sgt. Robbie Bacon was called to W.W. Hastings Hospital emergency room due to an assault and battery incident involving a 17-year-old boy. The boy stated another juvenile, who was possibly intoxicated, got in the bed of his truck. He allgedly told the boy to get out of the truck several times before he pulled him out of the bed. When doing so, another individual assaulted the boy from behind and struck him in the face and head several times with a closed fist.


Ronald Bogard was arrested for driving under the influence Dec. 24 after a traffic stop that was conducted by Sgt. Todd Carnes.


A man reported that his vehicle was vandalized and burglarized as it was parked on East Choctaw Street on Dec. 22.


On Dec. 26, Officer Jess McClure was patrolling the area of The Plaza shopping Center when she observed an individual shoot off a firework just north of First Street. The officer made contact with Justin Lee Eddings, who claimed another man was chasing while brandishing a knife. That man accused Eddings of firing a flare gun toward him. Eddings was arrested for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and booked. A flare gun was recovered from Eddings' person.


Officer Aaron Dorrough responded to East Ward Street Dec. 20 for a suspicous call. A woman said her daughter's ex-boyfriend trailgated them, harassed them, and eventually pulled a gun and pointed it at them.


An employee with Dollar Tree reported she was choked and slapped in the face by an individual on Dec. 27.


On Dec. 28, William Decker was arrested for domestic assault and battery.


Officer Caleb Murray was dispatched to Anthis-Brennan Sports Complex Dec. 30 for reports of a vandalism.


A man reported that his tool bag and tools were stolen from his vehicle Dec. 31.


These are arrests, not convictions.
