Police Chief: one man injured, one detained after assault

Tahlequah Police officials confirmed Friday evening that one man was injured and another man was detained.

Police Chief Nate King said officers were dispatched to reports of an assault at 602 W. Keetoowah St. Officers on scene said the assault was being investigated as a possible "homicide."

"The victim has injuries to the head and left by ambulance," King said. "Last word I got was when he left the scene, they did have a pulse [and] they did have signs of life."

King confirmed that the homeowner was detained and investigators are currently writing search warrants and interviewing witnesses who were at the residence at the time of the assault.

The names of the victim and suspect were not released.
