OHP: Locust Grove man dead after single-vehicle crash
A 20-year-old driver died early Friday morning after crashing near Leach.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the single-vehicle crash occurred just after 2:15 a.m. on Scenic Highway 412, half a mile south of East 550 Road.
Thomas Charles Potts was driving a 2002 Chevy Tahoe and departed the road, overcorrected, and struck a ditch. The vehicle overturned and came to a rest on the driver’s side.
Potts was transported by Mercy EMS to Siloam Springs Regional Hospital in Siloam Springs, AR. He was pronounced dead by medical personnel with trunk internal injuries. Potts was ejected from the vehicle.
Nineteen-year-old Jacob Aaron Cole, of Peggs, was transported by Mercy EMS to W.W. Hastings Hospital and admitted in stable condition with head and trunk internal injuries. Cole was partially ejected from the vehicle in the crash.
According to the OHP, the cause of the crash is under investigation. The driver and passenger were not wearing seatbelts.
