OHP: 15-year-old driver in critical condition after Memorial Day crash

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a Tahlequah boy and two passengers were injured after the single-vehicle crash just south of Cobbs Corner late Monday morning.


According to the report, a 2022 Nissan Altima was traveling at a high rate of speed on North 580 Road when the unidentified teenager lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle ran off the side of the road, reentered the road before rotating counterclockwise, ran off the road a second time, and struck a culvert. The vehicle overturned 1/4 time.


The driver was airlifted to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa and admitted in critical condition with unknown injuries. Nineteen-year-old Nathan Woods was taken to Northeastern Health System where he was treated and released with minor leg injuries.


Brian Olaughlin, 23, was transported to NHS and treated and released with minor leg injuries. A 12-year-old boy was checked out at NHS as a precaution before he was released. Daniel Elliott, 22, was not injured.


According to the OHP report, the condition of the driver is under investigation and the cause of the crash was speeding. All occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
